“The most important thing in a workplace is that all workers are happy.”

Spoken to me by a future boss. She’s gonna rock it.

Ah…. how to make other people happy ?

The heart ain’t alright?

23 02 2018

When my heart isn’t feeling alright, at least for me, it will translate into a physical pain on the cardiac. Like at my current age, 50% of physical cardiac discomfort has an emotional connotation to it. Is that just me?

So it happened this afternoon, there was a light constrict. Just enough to draw my attention away from the raging tempest.

Heart : Oh I wanna waddle in the blue.

Mind : You’re so f* stupid, you know.

Heart : I dunno ar. You’re the mind. i am the heart. Hearts are not designed to be logical.

Mind : Ok… funny too.

Heart : I will be alright tomorrow. Or maybe lusa. Don’t bother about me.

Mind : I know you’ll be… You’ll always be. We’ll work together.

TAKE 2

My kid patient , CheChe. From the registration counter, she was heard exclaiming loudly to the reception “I want Dr S ah!!!”, for when she stood in front of the taller counter, she couldn’t be seen. She came into the surgery with a big smile on her face, and it was very easy to return her cheer.

“Gong Xi Fa Chai, CheChe!”

“ANG PAO NA LAI !!!!!!” before taking her seat on the dental chair.

The whole process of treating her tooth was interjected with conversation with her.

“Someone removed my other tooth (mmhmmm). It was at the school, a dental nurse did it for me (oh yea? That’s great!). No, it wasn’t! (mmhmm?).

For me, you’re the best dentist.”

Awwww…….. you had just made my day.

Coupla years ago you came to me crying and scared. We’ve come a long way, didn’t we? Thank you, lil buddy.

Audience of One

14 02 2018

Someone recently asked me,
"I wanna buy a hopeful lottery,
Which number you prefer?"
It is number 1, for sure.
And it inspired me,
To write this song,
For my audience of One.

There is always One,
When I couldn't voice out,
Who knows my deepest thoughts.
When I put on a front,
Who can tear the layers and reach the core of me.
So this song is for You,
My audience of One.

And there Your are,
When I hide in shame,
You lifted my chin.
When I love you with an unfaithful and imperfect me,
A broken heart You will not despise,
Taking me just as I am,
You're the audience of One.

Sometimes when You speak,
I pretend not to hear,
And then I am upset,
When You kept silent.
When I couldn't see You,
Are you far from me?
Oh no, You were standing right behind me,
My rock and my fortress,
My audience of One.

You define love,
That's what you are - love,
You define 1,
That's what you are - alpha,
You define omega,
Sealed the deal with "It is finished",
Your love never changing,
Yesterday, today, forever,
And it is new every morning.

I'll always be OK,
with my audience of One.
So will you be too.

When My Time is Up

13 02 2018

(Not like anybody is reading this, but just in case someone -like you- stumbles upon this)

When the Lord calls me home… 2 things

  1. Everyone is welcomed to post funny, silly and/or ugly pictures of me on my Facebook. Thou shall not do that when I am still alive. Photos of fond memories too. ‘RIP’s are for strangers.
  2. My funeral should be a celebration of life. No black and whites please. Come, if anyone would, in costumes and bright colors.

A bright Idea

12 02 2018

A mom said “Hey Dr ah! Why don’t you put an ice-cream vending machine at your waiting area? I’m sure it’s gonna be a hit.”

“You wanna JV?”

Simply because we recognize that ice-cream might be the comfort food for kids after dental extractions.

Soon, someone might suggest “How about a beer vending machine for men after dental extractions?”
