One Friday

22 04 2011

The other day my colleague and I were playing squash, when suddenly somebody knocked on our glass, opened the door and asked “Any of you a doctor here?”
“Uhm… we’re dentist. But the guy next court is a doctor!”
And the strangers quickly led the doctor away, as we continued our game.
Then, some 40 minutes later, we heard the wailing of an ambulance…

That night, I was thinking “Did the patient in the badminton court make it…?”

An average person now lives about 70 years old. 70 years may seem like a good long life =) But compare 70 years to eternity, 70 years is short. Life is short.
So how should I choose to live…?
‘Should’ and reality is 2 very different stories. I want to be free, care free, burden free, eat lunches for free, etc. Instead I am bonded and chained. By commitment, by fear, by sin. And I am learning how to apply faith in every situation in life. I started many years ago, but it’s a lifelong learning process. The finish line is worth it. So, hang on.
‘Should’ and reality depicts 2 very different faces too. Simply put, one is Al-like and one is Christ-like. No prize for guessing which one is ‘should’ and which one is ‘reality’… My way on the highway. Your way if I like it or when it’s convenient la, can or not? =) but then again, when did God’s way actually lead me to troubled waters and shitty holes? My way does. Then it is God’s way that lead the prideful and astray me back home.
God is all we need when God is all we have. Wonderful, loving, awesome God.
About time for me to do a little housekeeping on life. Ha! Blame it on the fact that I didn’t give much thoughts for New Year resolutions. Many of my friends threw in the resignation letter already. Bye bye KKM. They chose their path. And here I am, drifted by the rapids of the river, almost reaching a division and haven’t chose which side to go. If I have a clearer sign that I am not made for more books, perhaps my decision would be easier.

Today, I got the news update finally. The uncle in the badminton court didn’t make it. If the Bible is true, like all people who lived a life and pass away, he’ll be at the gate, either claimed by darkness or by light. The ultimatum depends if he heard and believed the story of Good Friday and Easter. The choice and freewill lies in one’s hands.
MJDF Apr 2011 candidate number 715 also didn’t make the cut.
But still, it’s a Good Friday. Thank you Lord.
Happy Easter everyone.
